Good thing it’s Friday, because I’m about to get lost in the world of Japanese greaser videos on YouTube…

There’s something about seeing photos of the appropriation of traditional tattoos in foreign countries that warms the cockles of my cold, troll-damaged heart.

I find it interesting that with only three entries on Tattoo Snob tagged with ‘sacred heart‘, none of them are even remotely close to being the same. Just goes to show that while you may not be able to reinvent the wheel, there’s always an artist capable of putting a different spin on it.

I’m really psyched on this foot tattoo, and so is the person wearing it. Here’s what Mary had to say about it:
I am the proud new owner of a brand new right foot! Tattoo regret is a huge bummer and covering my feet has been in the works for nearly 5 years (yep, not only is this totally awesome, it’s a cover up!) Tim Senecal at Off the Map Tattoo is my hero. I will no longer dread forward folds in yoga or wearing ballet flats with capris. I made a few bad tattoo choices when I was younger that represented things that I no longer wish to keep with me forever, so I’m a THRILLED to have these new feet (second to come soon) to walk into this new part of my life!! ♥ ♥ ♥
Three hearts = serious.

While it’s always good to see who tattooers are trying to get tattooed by, I think seeing who their spouses choose to get work from says a lot, too.
Scotty Munster tattooed this cupcake monster on Juan Salgado’s wife at the Hell City convention last weekend, and I must say, the girl’s got good taste! (Did you get that? A cupcake eating a blueberry… nevermind. Sorry.)

As a child, I remember my Grandfather having statues of Buddha throughout his house. I never understood why, but I always remember the smile that Buddha always seemed to have.
I don’t know the first thing about Buddhism, but seeing that smile on Buddha always puts a smile on my face.
