Calling all artists and shops: Food Tattoos for Hunger Benefit

On November 18th, Tattoo Now is holding the Food Tattoos For Hunger day. Artists, shops and donators will all work in partnership with Feeding America and will be doing food tattoos from flash for donations to food banks. If you are a tattoo artist or part of the studio, and are interested in joining the event November 18th, please fill out the submission form on Food Tattoos For Hunger and they will contact you directly.

Raising money for good causes is not new to the tattoo industry; although, banding together and focusing collective efforts will increase the impact. We are looking for anyone willing to help donate their time and efforts to this goal. Together we can generate more media attention and sponsors to donate to the benefit. Our goal is to have 100 shops participate and be able to raise at least $1,500 each so we can donate up to $150,000 to food shelters.

As this event approaches, I have no doubt we’ll have more information about participating shops and how collectors can be part of this event.

Smile Train this weekend at Hell City

This year at Hell City, Adrian Dominic will be coordinating a fundraiser for a charity called Smile Train. Smile Train provides free corrective surgery for children with cleft lip and palate throughout the world. Here’s what Adrian had to say about the fund raiser:

This year for the 10th Hell City Tattoo Festival, we will be gathering donations to give to Smile Train. It will be held May 4-6, 2012. Tattooers are asked to donate a small portion of the weekend’s earnings. If this inspires you to help us get a jump start on our goal that weekend, that would be absolutely amazing of you.

All donations made through this link will directly help us to meet our goal. This could very well be one of the greatest things tattooing will be able to do to help decrease some of the children of the world’s suffering. Thank you so much for all of your help, and thank you for being a part of such a colorful, expressive, and beautiful community.

Tattoos for Equality

On Thursday, Golden Spiral Tattoo will have a fund raiser for Equality NC. All proceeds will go to Equality NC, as they prepare to fight Amendment One. I don’t know a ton of details, but I do know no appointments are necessary. All tattoos will be 4″ or smaller, and tattoos around the waist and ribs are off the menu.

According to the Equality NC website, Amendment One will threaten unmarried couples’ visitation rights in hospitals and their ability to make emergency medical and financial decisions if their partner is incapacitated. Thousands of families across the state could be stripped of important rights.
