I don’t usually post the same tattoo on the Tattoo Snob Instagram and here, but this is too cool not to post twice.

The limited color palette tattoo

March 27th, 2014 by Kevin -

European and American tattoo styles don’t always follow the same path, but it’s inevitable they influence each other at some point. Sometimes the influence is subtle and other times it’s borderline theft.

These limited palette pieces seem to be popping up more and more in Europe, and I’m curious how long before we see them in the states.

I’m a Tattoo Artist

Earlier today, I mentioned Peng Yang has decided to stay in New York for the near future. He’ll be tattooing at Alchemy Tattoo Arts in Bellmore, New York.

I’m excited that Peng is in the states, and I can’t wait to see all of the new work he’s already started. Below is a video of Peng that was posted earlier this month.

Peng Yang lays roots in New York

Long time Tattoo Snob friend Scott Trerrotola recently sent us the good news that Peng Yang has decided to stay in the states. Peng (pronounced, “pong”) is here from Beijing, China. He will be staying in New York for a few years and decided to grow roots at Alchemy Tattoo Arts.

Keep your eye on Peng, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more from him in the future.

Skin Deep, by the pair

March 26th, 2014 by Kevin -

It’s not right to post a pair of tattoos, and not feature both. Now what makes them a pair, I don’t know other than the same artist did both pieces. But hey, sometimes we don’t know and I’m ok with that. This isn’t “Insert Tattoo Reality Show” Here. We don’t have to have a story behind every tattoo.

Fresh to death

March 25th, 2014 by Kevin -

I have a love hate relationship with fresh tattoo pictures. Obviously an artist wants to document the work that they did, but a healed picture would be much more ideal. Unfortunately that’s not always possible due to logistics, and let’s not even get into the part about clients not healing pieces correctly.

In the perfect world, every client would heal their tattoo well and come back to allow the artist to take healed pictures. I don’t think that will ever happen, but I can dream.
