Tatouage & Partage with Jeff Gogue

April 16th, 2014 by Kevin -

A couple weeks ago Jeff Gogue was in France, and during that time he was interviewed by Tatouage & Partage.

Unfortunately there’s not subtitles for the entire video, but Jeff provides plenty of insight and strategy into his tattooing and art.

Bringing Tattoos to Life

April 15th, 2014 by Kevin -

So Shawn Patton had a photographer from the Canary Islands, that took it upon themselves to bring one of Shawn’s tattoos to life. Shawn adds in that he’s never met or spoke to the photographer or the model. Unfortunately Shawn didn’t include the name of the photographer or model, but hopefully they do more tattoos in the future.

I’ve been drooling over the pictures of this sleeve that Kurt Fagerland has been posting on his Instagram, and I’m excited it’s finally done.

I’m even more excited that we have a high resolution picture below. Click on the image below to see it in all of it’s glory.

Jeff Gogue announces the Unicycle Brand Skull Contest

April 15th, 2014 by Kevin -

Jeff Gogue announced a Unicycle Brand skull contest on his Facebook and Instagram account last night. There’s a lot of information, so I broke it down to make it simple. If you have questions, please refer to the original Facebook and Instagram posts.

The Rules:

  • You must use one or both of the skull references pictured below
  • Any size
  • There will be a “sketch” category and a “paint” category or both
  • Simply do the artwork, post a pic on Instagram and hashtag either, #unicyclebrandsketchcontest or #unicyclebrandpaintcontest, along with your email address
  • The winner will be contacted by me personally via your e-mail
  • Feel free to enter as many pieces of art as you want
  • The due date is April 21st for the sketch and April 28th for the painting
  • It is open to anyone who is reading this… Any age, any medium, any size, any country
  • If you win… we will email you instructions on getting your art scanned or photographed at high resolution and we will take it from there

What do you win?

  • Unicycle Brand will publish the winning piece of art in each category, and ship you the prints to do as you please with them.
  • The winner of each category will also receive an original sketch or painting from Jeff Gogue
  • Winners will get to keep the original art to do as they please with it.
  • You will be promoted and your art will be shared on the Unicycle Brand network sites.

This is sincerely just a spontaneous attempt at sparking and inspiring some artwork. We live busy lives and I for one get tired of the distractions and extra things we have to do each day to keep up with it all. I miss drawing for the fun of drawing and painting for the fun of painting. I realize this is a “contest” but it’s only meant to be motivating and fun … if this goes well, we’ll do it again… Get to work and post your art as soon as you get it done.

Researching Japanese Frogs in Nebraska

April 14th, 2014 by Kevin -

There’s a lot of people that are under the impression that top notch artists are only available in bigger cities. This isn’t 100% true, and Dominique Holmes is the perfect example of that. Now Omaha, Nebraska isn’t exactly a small town but I think you understand the point I’m trying to make.

In case you don’t understand – it’s all about research. A little bit of research goes a long way, especially when the results (typically) last a lifetime.

Mandala Mother of Pearl

April 11th, 2014 by Kevin -

This piece is a little unusual, as it looks like a tattoo has been tattooed over the top of but that’s not the case. These tattooed ‘over’ pieces are becoming more and more popular, it’s interesting to see clients asking artists to mimic tattooed over vintage pieces.

Now, I could be totally wrong and this could be an original 100% piece.
