Savannah Colleen’s Apprentice Experience

September 4th, 2014 by Kevin -

Everyone knows tattoo apprenticeships are tough to come by, especially a quality one. When the chance to get an apprenticeship with Russ Abbott comes about, it’s a life changing experience. Savannah Colleen and Clinton Lee both started their apprenticeships with Russ Abbott over two years ago, and both graduated last month.

When I heard they graduated, I shot both of them a handful of questions and both of them were kind enough to respond. We talked about the apprenticeship, the progress, how much time they spent at the shop, and their memories (good and bad) of the past two and a half years. To read more about Savannah’s experience, click below. Clinton’s interview will be posted later this afternoon.

Tattoo Artists Help Fight Skin Cancer in Brazil

August 29th, 2014 by Kevin -

Tattoo artists in Brazil are being trained by doctors to look for signs of skin cancer, thanks to Sol de Janeiro. Sol de Janeiro is a sunscreen company, and had the brilliant idea of having artists attending training courses to look for early signs of skin cancer.

This is simply brilliant. With skin cancer being the most common type of cancer in the world, this could help people quickly identify the early signs.

Rest in Peace Jason Reeder

August 28th, 2014 by Kevin -

The tattoo world lost another amazing person today. Jason Reeder was an amazing artist, and more importantly – one hell of a guy. I’ve been a fan of his work for ages, and I consider myself lucky that I was able to cross paths with him. I’m going to miss looking at his posts about his comic books, 90’s movies and music, and his art.

Rest in Peace Jason.
