The book features 28 of New York’s most respected tattoo artists, and only 100 copies are available. Copies run $100 — but all proceeds are being donated to assist the victims of the tsunami. You can purchase the book exclusively from Shirts & Destroy (online or in their Brooklyn storefront).   All production costs for the book were donated by Timothy Hoyer and Alpha Repro Graphics.

Rebel Reprints: Tsunami Relief Donation

March 23rd, 2011 by Kevin -

Scott from Rebel Reprints dropped us a line last night about what he’s doing to help the people of Japan. Here’s what Scott had to say:

I am reissuing this classic print in order to gather relief funds for donation to Japan to help the families that have been affected by the tragic events that have happened there.

The entire price of $30 for the print will go directly to Red Cross to support their efforts for recovery. Japanese art and culture have been a great influence in tattooing in general, as well as in my work, and this is a way for you and I to give something back and help people in need.

I painted this dragon, and donating the proceeds from it seemed a fitting way to help. The print is 24×8 inches with a 1/4 inch white border for framing. This limited edition is printed on hahnemuhle fine art paper with the highest quality archival inks, and includes a certificate of authenticity signed and numbered by the artist. This is a limited edition of 50 prints.

Even if you don’t find buying a print to be the way you would like to help the Japanese, please find a good way to donate or do your part to help. Thank You

All about Japan: FK Irons Japan Relief auctions

March 22nd, 2011 by Julene Huffman -

Everyone’s stepping up to be involved with helping raise money to sent to Japan. FK Irons and Eikon Device along with Nick Baxter and Durb Morrison are hosting a charity auction–via eBay, of course.

Kevin and I aren’t tattooers, but we’ve heard good things about FK Irons from people that are. Plus, 100% of the proceeds toward assisting Japan. Sounds pretty fucking win-win to me. Go head and bid on items from FK Irons, Eikon, True Tubes, Nick Baxter and more!

All about Japan: Gogue and Godfrey

March 22nd, 2011 by Julene Huffman -

Mike Godfrey and Jeff Gogue have designed shirts with the intent to put the money made toward helping the victims of the disasters in Japan. I think Jeff explains what they’re up to better than I can, so…

Mike did a phoenix to represent rising from the ashes of death and destruction. I love this drawing and look forward to wearing it. I have done two designs the first being a Japanese influenced dragon with the dragon’s horns/antlers turning into a cherry tree branch with new blossoms representing new beginnings and new life with the Japanese rising sun. I also have drawn a skull with waves coming out of it but the nation of Japan is rising up above and out of the reach of the death and destruction. In no way did I want to glorify the earthquake or the tsunami. I simply wanted to illustrate the determination of the japanese people to rise above them in defiance, determination, pride, strength, resilience, and humility. I will be offering the original drawings, limited edition prints, stickers, t-shirts, etc. with all profits from all sales going to the victims of the disasters through Shige at Yellowblaze, Yokohama Japan. Of course we could all just give money, but we want to give something back to everyone who gives. I have sent the images to the printer in LA, we will have shirts within days…
